The centerpiece of our day is the Anlaby Spring Festival at Anlaby Station, an iconic destination steeped in history. Celebrating 185 years, Anlaby holds the distinction of being the oldest Merino stud in South Australia and the second-oldest in Australia. Founded in 1839, the estate is renowned for its exceptionally preserved Victorian-Edwardian gardens. The 2024 festival promises an array of attractions including the grand unveiling of a new oriental-inspired garden and the meticulously restored historic conservatory. Revel in a festive atmosphere with live music, delectable local cuisine, and a series of guided tours that delve into the property’s fascinating history.

After immersing ourselves in the festival, we will visit a local winery in Clare, providing a taste of the region’s renowned viticulture.

The day concludes with our check-in at the Clare Country Club (Ph: 08 8842 1060), a premium accommodation known for its comfort and hospitality, where we will also enjoy dinner.

This day promises a blend of cultural heritage, scenic enjoyment, and culinary delights, making for a memorable start to our journey.

Day Two – MONDAY 21 OCTOBER 2024

Our day begins with a delightful breakfast at the Clare Country Club, setting the stage for a day full of artistic discovery and scenic enjoyment.

Our first visit is at the Medika Gallery in Blyth, housed in a charming old church. This gallery, run by Australian painter Ian Roberts, showcases exquisite watercolor paintings, focusing on native birds and offering a variety of artworks for sale. Alongside, we explore The Terrace Garden, a serene spot that complements the artistic experience with its natural beauty.

Returning to Clare, we visit the Arts Collective Clare Valley, featuring a special display of Metal Work and Ceramics this month, highlighting the local creative talents. We can enjoy some free time wandering down Clare’s main street, absorbing the town’s vibrant atmosphere.

We then make our way to the historic town of Burra, where we’ll enjoy a delightful two-course hot lunch at the local hotel.

Post-lunch, we will embark on a scenic drive of Burra, taking in sights such as Paxton Square Cottages, the historic Town Hall, and the Monster Mine. We will also have the opportunity to drive past the Bon Accord Mine site and the old Railway Station, enriching your understanding of the area’s rich mining heritage.

The day’s journey continues towards the Farrell Flat Silo, where we can admire this iconic rural artwork. A comfort stop in Roseworthy offers a final pause before returning to Adelaide, where chauffeur-driven cars will take us comfortably back home, concluding a tour rich in scenic beauty, art and regional history.
