Our tour highlights the enchanting Loxton Christmas Lights Festival, where the town comes alive with spectacular light displays and a joyous atmosphere. We’ll also visit Santa’s Cave in Waikerie, a delightfully festive attraction filled with holiday cheer and interactive displays. Along the way, enjoy country views, local art, and the charm of South Australia’s picturesque towns. This tour is perfect for those seeking to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit and enjoy a blend of festive activities and regional beauty.

Day One – FRIDAY 6 DECEMBER 2024

Our enchanting journey begins with luxury and convenience as we are picked up from our homes by chauffeur-driven cars. This sets a pampered tone right from the start, ensuring our comfort as we head towards our first destination.

Our first stop is for a delightful morning tea at Tailem Bend, a peaceful spot perfect for easing into the day’s travels. After our break, we’ll be captivated by the Karoonda Silos, where striking murals bring the spirit of the community and its agricultural heritage to life in vibrant colors.

Lunch awaits in Loxton, a charming town on the banks of the Murray River, after which we’ll step back in time at the Loxton Historical Village. There, we’ll explore meticulously recreated buildings and exhibits that transport us to the early days of settler life. The village provides a comprehensive insight into the rural ingenuity and pioneering spirit of South Australia’s early Europeans, set in a tranquil natural environment.

Following this historical immersion, we’ll check into the Loxton Hotel (Ph:08 8584 7266). We’ll take some time to relax and freshen up before dinner.

The evening continues with a festive flourish at the Loxton Christmas Tree Festival. This event is a highlight of the local festive season, featuring beautifully decorated Christmas trees each uniquely themed and illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere that captivates all. As night falls, we wander through Loxton’s streets transformed by the Christmas Lights and Displays, including the spectacular Christmas Wonderland. This immersive experience showcases the town’s holiday spirit with elaborate light displays, animated scenes, and interactive installations that bring the joy and wonder of Christmas to life.

Day Two – SATURDAY 7 DECEMBER 2024

Today offers an enriching continuation of our festive journey. After breakfast at the motel, we’ll check out and head to Lake Bonney in Barmera for a refreshing morning tea by the serene waters, setting a tranquil mood for the day.

Next, we drive to Waikerie, where we’ll marvel at the artistic expression on the Waikerie Silo Art, an impressive display that captures the essence of the region’s cultural and natural heritage.

Our visit then takes a festive turn at Santa’s Cave in Waikerie, a beloved local attraction hosted at the Waikerie Institute Soldiers Memorial Hall. This enchanting setup features a collection of interactive Christmas displays, meticulously designed by local volunteers. It’s an ideal place for families to engage in holiday activities, with opportunities to take photos with Santa in a beautifully decorated setting.

Following the festive experience, our journey continues through Blanchetown and on to Swan Reach, where we’ll enjoy a two-course hot meal. This provides a perfect break to enjoy the views of the Murray and share experiences with fellow travelers.

A comfort stop in Mannum gives us a chance to stretch our legs before we conclude our adventure.

We then return to Adelaide, where chauffeur-driven cars will take us back to our homes, carrying with us memories of a delightful exploration filled with Christmas cheer and local culture.
